Mobilizations and strikes on October 18, 2022  for wage increases and defense of the right to strike in Paris

 

Mobilizations and strikes France: On Tuesday, October 18, a national interprofessional strike called by the CGT, FO, Solidaires and FSU took place: transport, national education, health, public service and even some media were on strike. 

According to the Ministry of the Interior, 107,000 people mobilized in the streets throughout France, and 13,000 in Paris. The unions put forward the figures of 300,000 for the whole of France, and 70,000 demonstrators in the capital.

With this general strike, the employees defended several demands, in particular the increase of the wages in period of inflation and the protection of the right to strike questioned by the requisitions of employees in the refineries of gasoline occurred last week.

Strong disruptions have been caused by the strike, this Tuesday, October 18, starting in transport. On average, one train out of two was running in the regions and traffic was slow on some lines in the Paris region, including the RER and buses.1
